FireMon Technology
|
FireMon was built with your organization in mind — from small-scale network infrastructures
with few changes, to global enterprises with thousands of devices and innumerable
changes. It's innovative architecture makes FireMon an enterprise-scalable solution
that provides time-saving device support and smart, simple user management features.
Architecture
Distributed monitoring architecture
The FireMon architecture features a distributed data collection mechanism that sends
device and configuration data back to the central application server. A single installation
can contain multiple data collectors and can scale to monitor thousands of devices.
Device Support
Extensible device support
FireMon supports several major device types. And you can add new devices quickly
and easily using FireMon's device wizards.
Supported Devices
Check Point: SmartCenter, CMA, firewalls (AI, NGX), SPLAT
Cisco: PIX/ASA firewalls, VPN Concentrator, IOS, CSM, switches, routers
Nokia: IPSO
Juniper Networks: NetScreen, ISG, NSM
Administration
Flexible, granular permissions assignment
Begin by assigning users to groups for flexible creation of roles and management
of users. Then assign permissions to user groups, giving access to specific functionality
or even specific groups of devices.
Password or RADIUS authentication over secure SSL connection
Authenticate FireMon users with passwords or use your own RADIUS servers
to authenticate users. FireMon will still manage authorization with detailed permissions assignment
and keep all communication secure over an SSL connection.
System Requirements
FireMon is available for systems running Microsoft Windows or Linux.
For systems running Windows,
the FireMon server components may be downloaded and installed onto a single Windows server
in your enterprise. The GUI client is loaded onto the Windows desktop of every user who
will use FireMon.
For systems running Linux, users can load the FireMon application on a CentOS or Red Hat
Enterprise Linux server or purchase an appliance from Secure Passage. If you purchase an appliance,
the FireMon Application Server is loaded onto the appliance shipped
to you. This rack-mountable
appliance requires minimal manual configuration so you can begin monitoring
your devices quickly. The GUI client is loaded onto the Windows desktop of every user who
will use FireMon.

Sizing Recommendations
Additional hard drive space and memory, beyond what is required
for installation, is necessary for FireMon to collect and store configuration and
policy data. This additional space and memory allocation depends on the number of
devices you monitor and the average number of configurations or policy installations
that will be retrieved and stored. Please contact our sales team to discuss sizing
recommendations for your organization.
